Science fiction novel, set in the far future. Nevertheless, it's mainly based on character interaction. Almost all the characters are sympathetic, the book remains interesting all the way through and is thoroughly re-readable. Ending isn't thoroughly happy, but isn't unhappy either as such, and I found it worked quite well. On the whole, I think this one is excellent.
