Went down to visit Phil last weekend. Did a lot of relaxing - probably more than he'll do any other time this year! Went to Wicken Fen (the last surviving fen (i.e. swamp) in the area, apparently (except for St. Edmund's Fen, which is right next to it, surely?)). You have to pay to get in, but they'd closed up shop 20 minutes before we got there. I didn't really think it mattered if we went in anyway at that time, in fact there was a sign giving directions if the shop was closed. It really bothered Phil, though! Eventually he persuaded me to leave - partly helped by all the mud that our footwear really wasn't up to! We still had a fair look round, though. Then we went for a little walk past St. Edmund's Fen, sort of semi-accompanied by this big family that kept sending their dogs into the river/canal thing. Probably a river, but the rivers all look like canals down there - it's too flat, the water doesn't move! They're more like really thin lakes, really. We saw some pretty cool cows - looked like the ones on those highland toffee bars - and some very shy horses, who did NOT want me to video them.

We saw Alien Autopsy at the cinema in Huntingdon (where Phil might be moving soon!) - it was... alright. That pretty much sums it up. It was fine to watch, but I'm not sure I'd watch it again. On Saturday Phil cooked a duck - that was really cool (and nice tasting!). Quite a big duck, too, but really barely enough to feed the two of us. He worked out that nearly half its body weight was fat! I wanted to take a jug of the fat we'd collected to his church and challenge people to guess what it was, or maybe just stand there holding it, but Phil thought there was a good chance that no-one would appreciate my sense of humour. Maybe that IS a bit weird. So we also played Scrabble a bit, went for walks, watched TV (I saw 'Bruce Almighty' for the first time - is actually very good) and just hung out and talked. And I used his anti-RSI pen-mouse to draw a picture. Was a very good long weekend.

So today it's my nephew Liam's first birthday. Most of his extended family is heading round there at different times of the day. Think we're up at 5 O'clock, so I'd better not leave my bath too late. Planning to take my camera round and shoot a video, like I wish I'd done at the Christening. Is actually far less disruptive than taking pictures! If he's still up, that is - suspect he's in for a rather tiring day, although until he does get tired he'll probably enjoy the attention.

In other news, following Graham and Tom's trip to Norway for a Kaiser Chiefs gig, during which Graham thoughtfully got me some salted liquorice, I asked Paul L to do the same (actually gave him some money this time). I'd actually forgotten about it, so it was a nice surprise when he handed it over. So I now have lots of lovely salted liquorice - hurrah! He also said one of his wife's colleagues mentioned seeing them sold in Ikea - really must check that out.
