Sunday 2nd July 15:58

The last two weeks were going to be incredibly busy - busy at work, busy with a church weekend last week, busy with tidying the house while my mum was away (Karen's idea). Then I got ill instead. Went home on Thursday 23rd feeling awful at 5:00, went straight to bed fully clothed (with big sweatshirt) and freezing. Had some cold-like symptoms and dizziness, and was in a fair amount of pain (probably just from too much coughing). Have taken more painkillers in the last week or so than I have in the last couple of years.

One interesting turn of events was that I failed to move an exam I had booked for the 29th. It was a second-shot thing, which basically meant that as long as I actually turned up and had a go, I'd be allowed another go for free. Not to be turned down lightly, with the exams being just over 100 each. So I struggled into Accrington, determined not to take it seriously, as I hadn't revised all week. I passed, with dead on 700 (the pass mark). At least a quarter of the questions were abnormally easy - I'd taken this exam before, and it wasn't like this. Must just have guessed well with the others. Pretty miraculous, really - quite encouraging in that respect. So that's 3 down, 4 to go.

Am planning to be less pessimistic in future, if I can!

So I'm feeling rather better, although my ears have gone funny - one's almost totally deaf, the other's just weird. Wondering if I can possibly get away with a doctor's appointment after so much time away. It's really hot today, but a thunderstorm's started - hurrah! Hopefully that'll cool things down a bit. Am also hoping the guys at work aren't too depressed over England being knocked out of the world cup yesterday.

Mum was dead pleased about her house being tidied, which was mostly done by my sister and brother-in-law. I did try to help, but I have also been feeling like absolute poo. Anne's performance thing with her band sounded good - I did at least manage to go to that! I took a video with my camera but the sound went wrong. And the pictures I took of her and Dave were blurred - Dave had a flower on his cheek. Final piece of news - Anne found out she's got on the University-level course for her studies, which is brilliant. And that's it.
